A Simple But Powerful Trick To Protect Your Gmail Account From Hackers

This is a very simple yet powerful trick to protect your Gmail account from Hackers. Hackers often use your Gmail id to get the Gmail account name for example if your email id is [email protected] then hackers can easily guess your Gmail user id from the email which is amit.user.

But I would recommend you to use a Gmail alias id rather than using your original user name as the email id when using it for online purposes. Even you can use this alias email id on your visiting cards. This will keep your original Gmail user id hidden from hackers.

How to create Gmail aliases

Creating Gmail aliases is very easy and you do not need to do any configuration changes. As Google ignores periods in Gmail id so you can use an alias for the email [email protected] as [email protected], Google will treat both the email address as the same address and email sent to the later id will be sent to the original email id. This way you can hide the original user id from others and it will be difficult to guess your user id. But if you try to login with the id a.m.i.t.u.s.e.r as your user id you will not be able to login to your account.

There is one more way to create an alias for your Gmail id but this method does not help much in protecting your Gmail account as the user name can be easily guessed. In this method you add any word to the end of your user name with a ‘+’ sign that is “+MyWord”. So your email id becomes [email protected].

This method helps in tracking your emails easily that comes from different sources and you can set filter for it also. So this way you can create different aliases for your friends, family and special persons like [email protected], [email protected] etc.

However you can create a strong Gmail alias with the combination of the above 2 methods like: [email protected]. In all of the above cases you will get emails to your original Gmail id. If you do not believe me try and check it by sending emails from one of your Gmail account to other account.

However hackers try different ways to hack any account but if there is no harm it is worth using your alias email id.
