What Backlink Are? Well backlinks are the incoming links to a website or webpage. For example if a website (suppose has a link to your website on any of their page then it is a back link for your website. Backlink is of two types 1. Inbound 2. Outbound.

Suppose website A is having a link to website B then website A is an Inbound backlink for website B and website B is outbound backlink for website A. Now a days outbound backlinks are not so much considered in ranking the search results. Search engine like Google gives more importance to the inbound backlinks now. So here in this article whenever you come across backlink please consider it as the inbound backlink.

Why back links are so important for SEO? While evaluating the importance of a website to a specific keyword, Google takes into account the legitimate backlinks to the website. So what do I mean here by “legitimate backlinks”? A legitimate backlink is the quality of the backlink set by Google or any other search engine. Search engine algorithm sets the quality of the backlink based on the content of the website from where the backlink comes. Suppose you have a website which is featured for finance related articles and you have got a backlink from another website which is again finance related, so here the backlink is a legitimate one. But if your website has a backlink from a website which is featured for sports then this is not a legitimate backlink as the content of both the sites are completely different. So the quality of the backlink is completely content dependent.

So if your website has got good number of backlinks from very reputed sites which contain the similar content as your website does then there are more chances that your website will come at the top of the Google result page. So it is not an easy task to get the eye of search engines until you have good number of legitimate backlinks. Keeping lots of outbound backlinks does not help in any manner for getting a good page rank.

Search engines are taking backlinks more strictly. There are some service providers who sails backlinks but keep in mind that its not an easy task to get the legitimate backlinks just by paying some money. So you should stay away from these kind of farms. I hope now you have completely understood the importance of backlink and the importance of legitimate inbound backlinks.
