The way I look at Social Gaming

The war in the battle field of social networking has gone to its highest possible limit with the launch of Google Plus. The social networking giant Facebook has started pushing lot of new features into its service to retain its social networking territory. On the other side of the river Google Plus team is coming up with features which taste like old wine in a new bottle. Recently Google plus has added the social gaming into its platform to fight with the social gaming feature of Facebook. So the whole social networking environment has turned into a battle field of social networking platforms.
Since the time when social game has been adopted into social networking websites the whole picture of social networking has changed. Millions of people on Facebook play social games on Facebook. Even there are some games on Facebook that are so popular that people join Facebook to play those games, yes that is how I also joined Facebook.

But don’t you think it is just unfair to leave my favorite social networking site and join another one just to play some social games that the website provides. I think the time has come when we need to think about it, the way of playing social games needs a change.

Just imagine you are using Facebook and you found that there is a new and exciting social game that Google Plus has introduced, would you like to switch to Google plus leaving your favorite Facebook or vice versa? I know you won’t like to switch but what can you do, you do not have any choice left as you want to play that game with your friends. This is the result of the ongoing war among the social networking sites.
But imagine you are on Facebook and your friend is on Google plus and both of you are playing the same game with each other without leaving your favorite social networking website. Imagine this situation when not only the social networking sites will be on battle field but the users from different social networking sites will be on a battle of social gaming. Playing social game this way would be very much exciting. It would be like aliens from different planets are fighting together over a common battle field.
Now the time has come when the gaming companies need to rebuild their games to support this feature (Social gaming between different social network users). This would change the whole vision of the social gaming and social gaming will become more interesting and exciting.
Let’s see how this can be achieved. There will be a common gaming platform which would work like a bridge between the social networking sites. Suppose a gaming development company ‘A’ develops a social game called “Can You Beat Me” and deploys the same to all social networking sites. Users of FB and users of Google plus will be able to play the game with each other as well as the same social networking users can also play the game with each other. The below image explains the vision clearly.

                                                             A Social Gaming Vision

I do not have any idea whether any gaming company have implemented this way of gaming. But it would be great if some of the gaming companies come up with such gaming platform. There is also question about the acceptance of the this concept by the social networking sites. But this is the time when social networking sites and gaming companies have to change the way of social gaming. I am sure that in near future this way of playing social games will be implemented.

I guess you have not read the latest updates. Facebook just introduced changes in their apps developer rules to guarantee that what you are proposing never happens. Facebook is about holding user hostages. Now that a better alternative is rising they will try to hold on to them as hard as they can. In the end they will lose.

Thanks Alex for your comment. Really it will be hard for FB to hold the user base if they won’t change their policy. I hope one day they will change their app policy.
