Having the latest and greatest tech device is something that often finds itself at the top of holiday shopping priorities. Whether buying tech devices for yourself or as a gift for someone it’s good to know not only what the latest must have devices are, but what kind of value they offer for the price.

1. iPhone 5s

iPhones are always a popular choice during the holiday season, and the 5s is no exception. This is the newest model from Apple and comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor for added security, 64-bit processors, iWork, and a motion-tracking chip — all at a lower price than other models released before. It’s also being offered in more colors than previously available, an attractive option for many buyers. An iPhone 5s can be purchased for as low as $199.

2. PlayStation 4

This is the must-have gaming system for the holidays. The PS4 comes equipped with 8GB of memory, an AMD Radeon graphics engine, and the ability to track not only the movements coming from a player’s controller but also their facial movements. A solid number of game titles have already been announced for the release of the PS4, and the system will be considerably cheaper than others being released this holiday season at $399.

3. Samsung Galaxy Note 3

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is more than just a smartphone, it’s also a tablet. Devices like this are ideal for creatives and business executives alike. The large display is ideal for certain tasks, such as sketching ideas that come to you on the go or editing presentations for an important meeting.
This phablet has a 5.7-inch HD screen, a 13 megapixel camera, is lighter weight than its predecessors, 3GB of RAM, and includes an option of 32 or 64GB of internal storage. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has an impressively long battery life to complement its large screen, making it a must have device for this holiday season. This device is available for as low as $299.

4. Nexus 7 2

Tablets are good devices for anyone to own. They’re light, portable, and offer a larger display than most smartphones without the bulkiness of a laptop. Tablets also have notable battery life, for example the Nexus 7 has up to ten hours available per full charge. This tablet is pretty powerful, with 2GB of RAM and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. This 7-inch tablet by Google has received positive reviews for its extended battery life, HD display, and performance and has a starting price of only $299.

5. Google Chromecast

The Google Chromecast is a device that lets you stream media to your TV directly from a laptop, tablet, or mobile device. Chromecast is currently supported by popular apps such as Netflix, Google Play Movies, and YouTube with support for additional apps already in the works. This device is attractive, because its set-up is relatively simple and it works off of Wi-Fi. Another plus is the low price point, the Chromecast is available for only $35.

6. MacBook Air

The MacBook air is the perfect portable laptop. It has a 13-inch display, 12-hour battery life, and is super lightweight at just under 3 pounds. The base model of the MacBook Air comes with an 1.3GHz Intel Core i5 processor, faster storage than previous models, and a Haswell CPU. The starting price point for the base model of the 13 inch MacBook Air is $1,099.

7. Ultra HD TVs

Ultra HD TVs are the latest in television technology. These so-called 4K TVs (a nickname earned from their price) offer a resolution of 3840×2160, which is four times that of current full HD sets. Along with resolution, frames per second is also a major selling point for these televisions. Some models boast capabilities as fast as 60 frames-per-second.
The popularity of these sets is expected to steadily rise, with up to 5 percent of American television set purchases predicted to be ultra HD sets by 2016. An ultra HD TV would be the perfect gift for any TV aficionado, although selecting a programming provider via a site like DirectTVBeatsCable.com is a decision best left up to them. Sony and LG both offer 55-inch ultra HD televisions and both are priced around the $4,000-$5,000 mark.

This is just a brief overview of the top tech devices available this holiday season. While other devices may be released between now and the official start of the holiday shopping season, these are definitely some of the top contenders to consider when preparing your holiday shopping list. Anyone would be excited to receive one of these items as a gift, or you can always consider gifting these to yourself instead! Nobody has to know.
